Empowered Alumni Spotlight

Kennetra ‘NeNe’ Mays is a Bay Area native, proud mother to a sophomore in HS, an Executive Administrative Partner for Meta (fka Facebook), a CrossFit babe, melanin rich and a lil’ educated. At least that’s what her IG profile says.

From being a single mother at the age of 19, to now having three professional degrees (BS – Criminology & Criminal Justice, MS – Criminology & MS – Psychology with an emphasis in Forensics) … she’s never been one to let statistics define her. Not as a black Woman. Not as a single mother. During her childhood and adolescent years, Kennetra was known as the shy girl but now uses her voice to empower other shy girls and other single moms (she’s currently working on a virtual platform for this).

Kennetra is rooted by her faith and family and her love for the community. Now living in AZ, she volunteers her extra time with non-profits that support at risk youth & girls who are victims of sex trafficking. Kennetra also assists with various law enforcement events sponsored by her local PD and gives time through ministry – assisting the Events Team at her church (Faith Christian Center).

Kennetra is an entrepreneur and is currently working on opening a restaurant in AZ with her mother (a restaurant to honor the life and legacy of her grandfather ‘Jon Jon’). “IF YOU’RE GOING TO LIVE, LEAVE A LEGACY. MAKE A MARK ON THE WORLD THAT CAN’T BE ERASED.” – MAYA ANGELOU
